Classroom designed by kids for kids

Tools at School

Who said that creativity and product design come only with age? Student participants in the Tools at School project proved that age has nothing to do with creating really functional products. 44 eighth graders participated in this project. Besides creating the actual products, the students were introduced to the design process, step-by-step. Five of them had the opportunity to visit the Bernhardt Furniture Factory and see their design they helped created being made.

It is not surprising to me to hear how much this project impacted those young minds. They learned to look at the objects around them in a completely different way: how they were made, how much effort it was put into making them, what works and what can be improved. They also learned a much bigger lesson: creativity and imagination is not limited to certain professions or disciplines. It is something that, when used in a daily basis, can open the doors to incredible journeys. Did you use your creativity today?
