Wave Goodbye To The Internet Freedom

The Washington Times published an editorial about the FCC's proposed rule to regulate the Internet. Although it claims that bureaucratic red tape will actually increase the freedom of the Internet by making it more transparent, the commission itself still has to publish its proposed rule (so much for the transparency it preaches). The rule is supposed to address the issue of net neutrality. So far, market forces have addressed the issue. If providers limit heavy users' access, consumers simply jump ship. The higher courts have already struck down a previous attempt of the FCC to regulate the Internet. The only way this will be made possible is to have Congress's approval. And hopefully, Congress will leave the Internet self-regulate.
