How to Define Your Freedom

James Chartrand of Men with Pen had a very interesting article about the definition of freedom for freelancers. Most freelancers are so happy to be free (from cubical life, demanding boss) that forget they still have responsibilities - responsibilities to still provide for themselves and family; responsibilities for their clients. They still have to go out and get new clients (freedom doesn't mean "free" service), make sure they keep the same work ethics as before.

"What freedom means to freelancers is having the freedom of choice and of control. You have obligations and responsibilities to your business, to your clients and to every relationship you have - but, you can choose where to work, when to work, how much to work, and who to work with. You control your life.
 But you're not free.
Well, at least, not if you want a successful business packed with playtime you've created and clients who constantly talk about you with smiles on their faces".
Just because you don't have to wear a business suit, it doesn't mean you have to stop being a businessman...
