Twitter Shows Mood Changes Throughout The Day

A recent study done by Northeastern University looked at the colleration between the type of tweets and the mood changes throughout the day. For example, between 6 and 7 AM, the mood is happy; it downgrades during the day; and picks up in the afternoon/evening. Not that we needed Twitter to prove that morning java and the prospect of a new day makes us happy, challenges throughout the day darken our mood, and regardless how the day ended (good or bad) makes our mood a bit happier: it's over. And in the words of Scarlett O'Hara, "Tomorrow is another day".

Here are the words used to determine the good/bad moods:

:

Happy words
1. paradise
2. laughter
3. friendly
4. sweetheart
5. affection
6. excellence
7. romantic
8. pleasure
9. treasure
10. rollercoaster

Sad words
1. betray
2. grief
3. headache
4. failure
5. sick
6. debt
7. fearful
8. upset
9. bomb
10. seasick

And here is a graphic tracking the mood throughout the day:
