Senate Committee Bill To Make Electric Cars Half of All Cars

The  Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee approved a bill that will make electric cars half of all cars by 2030. The bill provides $39 billion over 10 years to invest in the electric car charging infrastructure.

Most car manufacturers have or are developing electric cars as part of their lineup for 2011 and 2012. The biggest challenge will be having enough public recharging units spread across the country. As of right now, the current models get an average range per charge between 80 and 100 miles.
