They Are Hiring!!

As the economy is bouncing back, Silicon Valley companies started an aggressive hiring process. Which is a good news for those looking for work and a bad news for companies outside the Valley looking for employees. Companies in places like Austin TX or Kansas City MO now have to use social media to attract new employees. During the recession, they were able to hire really great talent. Any job was a good job and any place was a good place, as long as it provide job security. Now, that things are getting back to "normal", any job is not a good job anymore. Companies in the Valley offer much higher salaries and much better benefits. Plus, there is that perceived prestige that comes with working in Silicon Valley.

If you want my advice - take the Austin, or Denver, or Kansas City job. There are several advantages over the California alternative.
  • You will shine (especially, if you are that "special" talent they've been looking for);
  • You will have an opportunity to make your mark and not get lost as employee 24,589;
  • The cost of living expenses (something most people forget to factor in their decision process) is much lower;
  • Most of these places are perfect if you want to start or raise a family;
  • And my favorite bonus - you don't have to deal with big egos and the snobism that comes with it.

So, check out LinkedIn and Facebook for those jobs. You will be surprised how much happier you'll be in the end.
