The slow economy is impacting the investments in new infrastructure. Businesses and consumers alike are using less energy than before. The reduction in demand is due to a combination of energy conservation and a cost reduction.
According to the EEI, there were 43 coal plant cancellations or deferrals since 2008 and 15 new projects announced.
