EPA Calls Greenhouse Gases a Public Threat
Today, the EPA announced that it has scientific proof of greenhouse gases being a public threat. The EPA administrator, Lisa Jackson, said the Agency will move towards new emission standards focused primarily on larger emitters such a power plants, crude-oil refineries and chemical plants. The Agency plans to limit their output of carbon dioxide and other gases and to penalize those who don't follow the rule.
The announcement comes right before the Climate Change conference in Copenhagen. The Obama administration plans to use these finding as a counterattack to the so-called "Climategate". The Climategate emails made a lot of countries question the validity of the climate change theory, especially since it requires an enormous investment at the time when most governments would prefer to create jobs instead of reducing pollution.
