The Year of Change
For a lot of us, 2008 was a year of awakening. The economic situation affected us in a lot more levels than just financial. It was this broad effect that led a lot of us to stop and think what is important in life. We quickly learned that we can live without the $40,000 SUV, the latest Gucci bag, and the shopping vacation to Italy. We realized that family is not only the most important thing for us, but also the number one support system. (Our trusted friends come in close second). We found that living simply is actually more rewarding. It frees our mind from frivolous thinking and it focuses our attention on real issues - like the environment, poverty, war, peace. It made us aware (not only at the intellectual level) of the limit of our natural resources and unleashed our creative minds to re-utilize what we already have - recycle, re-create, re-design, re-invent.
Tighter belt also meant spending more time at home and getting to know each other better. We even got acquainted with our selves! Watching movies together, sharing a meal and a conversation, rediscovering our own cities. Who says you can't have a great time just exploring your own neighborhood?
Extra time of reflection allowed us to reconnect with the true selves, to strip down the multitude of layers we've been adding, to rediscover our true values.
I believe that 2009 will be a great year for all of us, for our planet. A year when we awaken from the nightmare of illusions, greed, lies, and false values. A year when we reconstruct long lost communities and reconnect with each other. A year when we put the greater interests ahead of our own.
2009 is the Year of Change. A change from within reflected outwards.
So let us raise our glasses to a wonderful New Year!

I like your style, the fact that your site is a little bit different makes it so interesting, I get fed up of seeing same-old-same-old all of the time. I've just stumbled this page for you
